Since we moved to Denver, it's been so fun finding new traditions and things we love about this city!
When we lived in Austin, the most amazing light display was Trail of Lights at Zilker Park. It was such a spectacular light display which you leisurely walked through and ended at an area with food and beverage tents as well as a ferris wheel and some other fun things for kids.
When we moved to Denver a couple years ago we heard about the Denver Botanical Gardens Blossoms of Light and ever since we've wanted to try it. We went this past weekend and although it is much smaller than Trail of Lights, it was still completely magical and a wonderful holiday event.
One thing I loved was that the Denver Botanical Gardens has their own parking garage. I couldn't believe how easy it was to park (tons of open spaces). Then we walked upstairs and found ourselves directly across the street from the entry.
All in all, with slow walking (and a break for hot cocoa at the outdoor cafe about half way though), this little adventure took us about 45 minutes to walk the entire thing. We all really enjoyed it and the grand finale at the end had everyone smiling and in the spirit (I won't give it away, but it's definitely the coolest light display in the Gardens).
To add on to our holiday spirit weekend, we decorated these ugly sweater cookies I found at Target. We actually decided we prefer these to the normal gingerbread house because everyone gets to work on their individual cookies, the icing was super easy to pipe and there's no breaking (why do my gingerbread houses always collapse?). So if you are looking for something creative to do, definitely give this a try!
Do you feel like every year it goes by quicker? With only a couple weekends left I am trying to make sure we make amazing memories and pack in all the fun! What are some of your favorite holiday events/crafts you do with your family?
